Green Coffee Extract Part 2

Alright here’s my results for round 2 experimenting with the new weight loss craze: green coffee extract.

I tried another brand of GCE that contains svetol and green coffee antioxidant, two ingredients that Dr. Oz claims needs to be in the GCE pill in order to work.

Overall, this brand is better than the first one. I was not jittery at all since there was significantly less caffeine in this pill than the first brand. And this second brand required you to take a pill 30 minutes prior to eating, so it made me really aware of when I eat. HOWEVER, without changing my diet or workout regime, I ended up gaining 0.2 lbs on this gimmick.

So I’m not going to write much about this. Long story short, I’m sticking with good ol calorie counting and exercising.

Green Coffee

So I’m a fairly healthy, average woman in my late 20’s. I don’t eat fast food, don’t eat much red meat, exercise 4-5 days a week, and eat my fair share of greens. I’m 5’4″ (on a good day) and about 138 lbs. My dad says I have a very “athletic” frame. I know I should be happy and content with this. However “athletic” does not equal “skinny.” I have friends who eat and drink MUCH worse than I do, yet they’re twigs! Come on! I want skinny arms and skinny legs, too. I want my thighs to not burn from rubbing together. I want my muffin top to not exist. Ugh! I know I have a decent body, and maybe I’m being too hard on myself. But you “athletic” girls out there know what I’m talking about. Especially if you live in southern CA surrounded by twigs. Usually blonde twigs.

Anyways so I’m dedicated to becoming healthier and as lean as I can be. Diet and exercise have NOT been working as effectively as I had hoped (I admit this could be user error), so I’ve decided to try a little kick. And upon a little research, I discovered something Dr. Oz mentioned called green coffee extract. There’s something on YouTube from Dr. Oz’s show explaining the theory behind green coffee, but I can’t remember at the moment. I’ll find the link and post it later. All I know is that his audience tested it out and lost weight. Now I know there’s a lot of other factors out there to individual weight loss (genes, daily routine, profession, etc.), but whatever I wanted to give it a shot. What I should have realized was that Dr. Oz was experimenting with a certain brand of green coffee and that there are a million brands out there.

My friend and I split a bottle SUPPOSEDLY free and SUPPOSEDLY endorsed by Women’s Health. Don’t fall for it ladies. $80 and 2 weeks later I lost a grand total of 1 lb. not only that, but I was really jittery and would crash really hard after lunch. I’m talking face planting into my computer screen at work. It was pretty bad. Probably because each capsule contained 200 mg of caffeine, which you’re supposed to take 3 times a day. Just to put it in perspective, one cup of regular coffee contains around 150 mg of caffeine I believe. I usually only drink tea so this was a damaging dosage for me. I also experienced cramping and nausea.

After that experiment, I decided to do more research and find the type specifically used on Dr. Oz’s show. Two ingredients were missing in the previous pill: svetol and green coffee antioxidant. My other friend at work found a brand containing both ingredients and decided, why not let’s give it a try! I’m on a 2 week trial and will post an update on my results.

Attached is a pic of the bottle you SHOULD NOT get.
